ATV Adventures

Dave says: Recently the weather has been great and we have been doing some ATV adventures in addition to our bike riding. We took a trip out to the ghost town Copper Creek which I visited a few times with my dad as a kid. There are some old mines and the ruins of a big mansion house that used to be out in the area. On the way back, we almost ran over a big gila monster in the road. We also took a trip out to the Tortalitas where the desert flowers were in bloom. Alisha wanted to take pictures of all of them.

Last week I was in Houston for SIOP which is an academic conference. I presented at a symposium and met a bunch of great professors and students. I also got to see my high school friend Clay who now lives in Houston.

Mesa Crit and a Visit from Mom

Alisha says: A few weekends ago my teammates and I went and raced a night crit it Mesa. It was a really cool race. The race was part of a festival so the city had several blocks blocked off and there were other activities going on that brought out quite a few spectators. I was also really excited that my parents were able to come and watch. About halfway during the race they called a prime lap for a four night cruise vacation. I sat in a good position during the lap and then sprinted for the prime and I got it! I got in a four person break with my teammate Chloe and then worked for her where she rocketed away on the final corner for the win! A great race for Sabino Cycles!

Dave taught Kaylee how to ride without training wheels the next day in Phoenix

The next week Dave went to a conference for school in Houston, Texas so my mom came for a visit. It was really fun to get to hang out just my mom and I for a few days. We spent a day out at the Desert Museum. It was such a nice day and the desert is really pretty right now with some of the cactus and other things blooming. We went to program called raptor free flight where they bring out some their big birds and let them fly untethered in the open desert. We also went to a program where they brought out a huge gila monster and rattle snake.
