Rocky Point

Dave says: It's been a few weeks since I've blogged and a lot has happened. With Skye coming a month early near the end of the semester it was a busy time. Being a new dad is great but I definitely have less time than I used to. I tend to be awake at night and usually do the first feeding which means that I am up late and then sleep in later than usual in the morning. Skye has also decided that she likes to be held and to sleep on people. She is so adorable that this is hard to resist although it is easy to sit down as you hold her and she falls asleep only to have three hours disappear. She's a good baby almost all of the time with a pleasant disposition. When she is hungry though you have to be quick because she is not very good at being patient.

Fortunately we've had a couple weeks over the break to have a little fun and to start getting caught up on stuff. We headed down to Rocky Point for a few days with my family which was a lot of fun. Normally I wouldn't be too keen on taking a new baby to Mexico but we have done the trip many times before and caravaned down with my family to the Sonoran Sky Resort. Despite some issues with the hot water heater in the condo (which caught on fire at one point) it was a nice trip and Skye did really well. Highlights included walking on the beach, swimming in the pool, wandering around downtown, going on an atv ride, and buying some southwestern decor for our house.

We came back on Christmas eve and were ready for a little more low key Christmas. We had dinner with everyone over at Christine's which was nice. The best gift of the year was Rachel getting a giant stuffed cheetah from Santa. Another good gift was Alisha's brand new mountain bike (Specialized Stumpjumper) which she got a few weeks ago and has already been using to shred the trails.

Skye checks out the beach, Maybe next year she'll be ready to play in the sand.

Allie first says she is scared of horses and then has a great time insisting that she should ride by herself.

The Perfect Christmas Present

Alisha says: Having Skye join our family has been the best gift that I have ever received!

Look what I found under the Christmas tree!

She was done being stuffed in sock

That's better, now I can kick my little legs around.

Newborn Pictures and 2 Week Stats

Alisha Says: We had some newborn pictures taken of Skye when she was just seven days old. They turned out so cute and I am in love with them. She also had her two week appointment at the pediatrician and the doctor said that she is doing good. Although the stats don't really mean much they are fun to look at, because Skye was born a month early she is on low side of things but that's okay.

2 Week Stats
Weight: 5 pounds 13 Ounces - 4th Percentile
Height: 19 Inches - 10th Percentile
Head Circumference 13 - 11th Percentile

Skye's Baby Shower

Alisha says: Usually you have a baby shower before the baby arrives but since Skye decided to come a bit early she got to attend her own baby shower which was planned for November 21st. My Mother and Mother-in-law put together a cute little shower for me. It was mostly family and a few friends. I was overwhelmed by everyone's kindness. Skye is going to be one cute dressed little girl for a long time. She also received a few blankets, diapers and strollers. My neighbor went on a shopping spree for Skye and showed up with five gift bags full of things for now, later and just for fun. We were definitely showered with gifts from everyone and it was really fun to get to show everyone our cute little daughter.

Eight Months of Pregnancy

Alisha says: Getting pregnant was the most difficult part of this pregnancy, once I was pregnant it was mostly smooth sailing. I didn't experience much morning sickness and only threw up once (might have been a combination of being pregnant and car sickness). I was able to continue exercising the whole time I was expecting. I mostly continued to ride my road bike 20-25 miles daily. I also continued to mountain bike on the easier trails up until 32 weeks and then we also did an occasional hike or walk and I tried to do yoga at least three times a week. Total biking/hiking mileage during this pregnancy was around 2,500 miles. Although I could see the changes happening to my body throughout the whole pregnancy it really wasn't until 25 weeks when I really started showing. I gained an average amount of weight around 23 pounds. Pregnancy is different for everyone, this was just my experience. I think I just experienced a lot of rough times going through IVF that I got lucky to have a fairly easy pregnancy.
