Summer Trip - Part 2: Park City (Family Time)

Alisha says: Our summer trip is also a great time to see family that lives scattered around Utah at least once a year. We took the opportunity to meet up with my sister Amber and her family on a perfect overcast day at Lagoon. There were lots of rides that were geared for little kids and even Jade got to ride her first roller coaster (it may have been a little much for her but she survived). Skye got to ride the medium sized roller coaster Bombora and it ended up being her favorite ride. It was super cute to hear say how much fun she had. We had so much fun that we actually came back the next weekend for a second day and while we still had fun it was much hotter and we were missing the cousins to go on rides with.

We also met up with my brother, Richard, and his family at Wheeler Farm where we saw animals and fed the ducks. We then had some Thai lunch followed by a swim in the pool at their house.

Summer Trip - Part 1: Cedar City

Dave says: We started our big summer trip in the usual way with an initial stop in Cedar City. Our kids love to play with Brody and Elsie and there is always a lot going on. Some of the highlights from this year include bike rides around town on the path, going to the aquatic center, and playing in the back yard. Alisha and I also managed to sneak out for some bike rides ourselves. We hit Gooseberry Mesa one day which was one of the best rides of the whole trip (now that Alisha has the tech skills). We also enjoyed the growing network of trails around Cedar City.

17 Months

Alisha says: Jade is starting to talk more and more. She is really good at saying "no"
Animal noises: Baa, meow, woof, neigh.
Mama, Dada, No, Uh-oh, Please (signs this as well)

She loves the water and will repeatedly walk off the shallow step in the pool over and over. It's a good thing that I put her in lessons this year so that she can float. It is really cute. She also loves the splash pad and will walk right though all of the jets, she doesn't mind if they spray in her face or anything, she loves it.

She is interested in and likes to copy things that Skye does. Sometimes they play really cute toghether, making each other laugh and sometimes they already fight over toys or Skye doesn't want Jade bothering her. I have a feeling that this is going to continue for quite some time. I just hope that they can be good friends and get along *most* of the time.

June

Alisha says: After our unseasonably cooler May the hot temperatures arrived with June. The pool finally warmed up enough that swimming became a daily or twice daily activity. Skye continues to improve her swimming skills and in addition to swimming the length of our pool on her own has had fun doing flips and jumping off the side of the pool and the waterfall. The waterfall is kind of high so we were impressed when she jumped right off it and then wanted to do it again. We have been over to the beach pool a few times and both kids have really enjoyed that.

We have had our summer babysitter coming over three mornings a week so that Dave and I can get out and ride together. We have made a few trips out to McDowell for some fast flowy cross country mountain biking and then also doing the Wednesday Jetset and Saturday Two Wheel Jones group rides. Dave and I both got personal bests on the usery climb which was exciting.

We hiked "The Jug" with Tom. It was a great day with a little big of cloud cover and the water was very refreshing and not to cold.

16 Months

Alisha says: This little girl is on the go and developing quite the little personality. I call her my "sweet pea" right now because she really is so sweet. She started taking swim lessons and although she cried through most of her lessons the first two weeks she can do a little floating on her own.
