Alisha says: Welcome to 2015! I can't think of a better way to start the new year than by getting outside and breathing in some fresh air. Everyone is describing this winter as being very mild, as this is our first winter here we don't have much to compare it to but I have to agree because it has not been as cold or rainy as I was expecting. In fact New Year's day was a perfect example, we hiked Ira Springs to Mason Lake under a clear blue sky. The upper slopes of the trail were covered in snow but because of the uphill effort and the sun we were actually rather hot.
Another hike that we recently did was Heather Lake. It did look like it was going to be a drizzly day on that particular day but we didn't really get rained on while hiking. It was a bit foggy which made for a different yet also beautiful time as we hiked through the misty forest and when we arrived at the lake it looked really mysterious and beautiful at the same time.
